Team Overview
The Special Risks – Insurance & Trade Guarantees (SR IT&G) Team delivers debt management solutions to Canadian exporters facing unexpected commercial risks and events that could materially disrupt their business operations. The team is responsible for managing claim adjudication and recovery efforts arising from EDC’s credit insurance, trade guarantees, and other insurance products.
We are looking for a seasoned, forward-thinking Sr. Automation Analyst or Principal Automation Analyst dedicated to building Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to streamline operations and drive efficiency. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team, continue to build our automation strategy, and lead our automation initiatives.
Job Description
Reporting to the Special Risk Director Insurance & Trade Guarantees, the Sr. Automation Analyst or Principal Automation Analyst is expected to bring highly credible technical and business experience to drive automation forward and streamline processes. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with partners, business leaders, transformation initiatives, and subject-matter experts, to plan and execute end-to-end process automation analysis for reliable, scalable, and sustainable solutions. You will join the community of practice of automation citizen developers and will be required to work in partnership with the Automation COE (Process Performance Improvement - business arm and DSD&A - Automation squad), process owners and subject matter experts in assessing process automation needs, designing, developing, and deploying the automation solution, as well as monitoring and supporting these solutions through their lifecycle, ensuring they follow corporate coding standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Special Risk teams to review manual processes and determine the best fit for automation.
- Conduct feasibility analysis of potential automation opportunities, including exploration of AI and machine learning capabilities.
- Contribute to strategy while rapidly building minimum viable products and pilots.
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of automation solutions within the Special Risk teams.
- Support and monitor performance of automation solutions and enhance these over their life cycle.
- Create and present high-quality analyses, insights, and management reports, providing guidance in complex or ambiguous situations to support business decision-making and performance evaluation.
- Estimate efficiencies anticipated through automation solutions; analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing automation solutions.
- Solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions; exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
- Facilitate effective communication between Special Risk teams, Automation COE, applicable business teams and IT, ensuring investment decisions and business outcomes are optimized.
- Collaborate with the Automation COE to ensure best practices and standards are followed in the development of automation solutions.

Screening Criteria
- Completed an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 9 years (for Principal Automation Analyst) or 7 years (for Sr. Automation Analyst) of experience in business process improvement, including at least 5 years in automating processes, not necessarily with RPA software.
- Strong knowledge of Robotic Process Automation practices and the UiPath platform.
- Excellent (Principal Automation Analyst) Good (Sr. Automation Analyst) verbal and written communication, presentation, collaboration, and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to gain trust, secure buy-in, and influence change at all levels.
- Experience in the finance or insurance industry.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an RPA developer or similar role.
- Proficiency in RPA tools like UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere.
- Strong knowledge of software development principles and programming languages.
- Experience in process analysis, design, and implementation.
Compensation Details
- Citizen Developer 18 : Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $94,664 - $126,219
- Citizen Developer 19: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $109,810 - $146,413.
Location
- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role may be performed from EDC’s head office in Ottawa or from our Community Hubs in Toronto or Montreal
